District Orakzai is characterized by a very strong tribal structure and very rich ethnic diversity and cultural heritage. There are 18 major tribes with several smaller tribes in District Orakzai.
After succeful operation Zarb-e-Azb,, 100% writ of the Govt has been established and the rehabilitation process of the damaged infrastructure is going on smoothly.
After merger of erstwhile FATA into khyber Pakhtunkhwa, District Orakzai is passing through a transition period and the District Administration Orakzai is fully devoted to facilitate the populace of District with effective / constructive services delivery..

Culture of the area is dominantly Pashtun, with people adhering strongly to the Pashtun code of conduct also known as "Pakhto or Pashtunwali". Religion is evident in their lifestyle. People are very much social and maintain Hujra culture. Hujra is a community centre, guest house, meeting place, court and shelter. People adhere strongly to the jirga system for peace and justice where saying of the respectable elders is observed. Pakhto or Pashtunwali"
